Ikhlef Bechar received a Master’s degree in Mathematics/Vision/Learning from Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris-Saclay, and a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics with a specialization in biomedical image analysis from Université Paris Descartes (Paris 5) in collaboration with INRA Jouy-en-Josas, Institut Curie Paris and IRISA/INRIA Rennes.
His professional experience includes two postdoctoral research fellowships in computer vision and AI at the University of Oxford and at INRIA Nice Sophia Antipolis where he principally worked on MRI image analysis for the early diagnosis of the atherosclerosis disease, and on the incorporation of shape priors for multiple object extraction in lowly contasted imagery (ex. thermal infrared imagery, biomedical imagery), respectively, as well as a rich research and development experience in embedded/lightweight computer vision and deep AI (LIS laboratory, French customs, C-S group, …).
Currently, Ikhlef is very enthusiastic about the leverage of his research and development experience and his imagination for helping build at Caranx Medical the first ever autonomous surgical robot.
