The 2nd application of the AiiR plateform to treat obesity

The obesity pandemic is another rapidly growing condition affecting the health of individuals on all continents, with 1 billion people affected worldwide. This chronic disease is especially harmful for patients as it is linked to other diseases, such as arterial hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnea, dyslipidemia and certain cancers, reducing the life expectancy of many patients and leading to huge costs for the health care systems.  According to recent estimations, 1.2 million patients die each year in Europe due to this disease, when a 10% weight loss could significantly improve their health and quality of life. Unfortunately, only 1% of patients eligible for surgical treatment finally undergo bariatric surgery.

Using the AiiR platform, CARANX Medical develops a new endoluminal procedure to treat obesity, dedicated to surgeons and interventional gastroenterologists. Caranx medical robot manages the stomach calibration and suturing, making the endoluminal procedure easy to perform and reproducible.

DEFINE NEW STANDARDS OF TOMORROW’S MEDICAL PROCEDURES
The use of disruptive technologies allows to standardize and democratize complex surgery and reduce the level of human risk with a triple benefit:

FOR THE PATIENT:

Reducing procedural risks linked to human factor

Shortening operating time and therefore hospitalization stays as well as recovery time

Offering a tailored-approach, leading to optimal outcomes for each patient

FOR THE CLINICIAN:

Standardization of technical gestures

Shorter learning curve

Increased comfort

FOR THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM:

Improving the quality of care

Increasing the number of outpatient procedures

Reducing costs, allowing to treat more patients with optimal results
