Pierre is a Mechatronics Engineer at Caranx Medical. His work focuses on the hardware design, prototyping and testing of surgical robots.
Pierre obtained his Engineering degree in Robotics from Ecole Centrale de Lille in 2018. During his master studies he worked on several medical robotics projects including an endoscopy robot for ear surgery in collaboration with Nantes University Hospital and 3D printed hand prosthetics in collaboration with Polytechnique Montréal and Montréal University Hospital (Centre de Réadaptation Marie Enfant). Pierre completed his PhD thesis in Computer Science titled “Autonomous Guidewire and Catheter navigation for robotic Percutaneous Coronary Interventions” in 2022. This work was a public-private collaboration between the DEFROST lab at Inria Lille and the company Robocath. This work focused on realistically simulating the heart beat motion, the coronaries and their interaction with endovascular imstruments, in order to study sequential decision making in the context of PCI using Reinforcement Learning and Tree Search based planning algorithms.
Pierre’s research interest includes soft robot design and control, FEM simulation in a medical context, rapid prototyping and decision making algorithms.
