Ekaterina Mukhina, PhD

Biomechanical Engineer

Ekaterina Mukhina joined Caranx Medical in May 2023 as a Biomechanical Engineer.

She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Applied Mechanics from the Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University. Following her academic pursuits, she gained valuable experience as a mechanical simulation engineer in the petroleum industry, where she spent nearly four years refining her skills.

Driven by a growing interest in biomedical engineering, she decided to explore this captivating field further. Pursuing her passion, she obtained a master’s degree in biomedical engineering, specializing in biomechanics. Eager to delve deeper into her chosen area of expertise, she embarked on a Ph.D. journey focused on biomechanics.

During her doctoral studies, she had the opportunity to contribute to the renowned H2020 European Training Network as a part of the STINTS project (Skin Tissue INTegrity under Shear). Within this project, she focused on the experimental and numerical aspects of biomechanical modeling, with a specific emphasis on sacral soft tissues. Her research primarily revolved around the development of innovative approaches to prevent pressure ulcers with a help from biomechanical modeling.

Her professional interests lie in the application of biomechanical modeling to the medical field, as well as the fascinating realm of surgical robotics. She remains dedicated to leveraging engineering principles to advance the medical industry and ultimately make a positive impact on people’s lives.
