Vera Damerjian Pieters, PhD.

Vera Damerjian Pieters is a Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence engineer at Caranx Medical. 

Vera holds a Masters degree in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Balamand, Lebanon. She received her PhD degree in Computer Vision applied to medicine from Université Paris Est in collaboration with the cardiology department of Hôpital Henri Mondor at Créteil, France. Her PhD thesis concerned the detection and classification of cardiac amyloidosis, a rare heart disease.  

After her PhD, which was focused on the heart, Vera acquired experience in both research and industry in different medical fields. She was a Computer Vision engineer at Essilor Instruments where she developed deep learning detection and segmentation solutions for ophthalmological applications. Her next experience was in lung cancer and comorbidities (emphysema) research at Université Côte d’Azur. 

Throughout her career path, Vera has also been teaching in various public and private universities. She is an entrepreneur in artificial intelligence education and training. Her research interests include texture analysis, segmentation, object detection, and classification.
