Ikhlef Bechar, PhD

Senior Engineer

Ikhlef Bechar holds a MSc degree in Mathematics, Vision and Learning (MVA) from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris-Saclay, and a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics

with specialization in Biomedical Imaging from Université Paris-Descartes in collaboration with INRA Jouy-en-Josas, INRIA/IRISA Rennes and Institut Curie of Paris.

Previously, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in medical imaging jointly at the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research (OCMR) and Institute for

Biomedical Engineering (IBME) of Oxford University, as a postdoctoral researcher in computer vision at INRIA Nice Sophia Antipolis, and as a research engineer in

computer vision and artificial intelligence at Laboratoire d’Informatique et des Systèmes (LIS UMR CNRS/AMU/UTLN).  He always worked closely with clinics and

industry including Hôpital de la Salpêtrière of Paris, Institut Curie of Paris, John Radcliffe Hospital of Oxford, Airbus, French Customs, Seaowl, C-S, … and this allowed

him to strengthen his expertise in areas such as multi-modality medical imaging, multi-sensor data analysis, real-time computer vision software, deep learning and

robotics.

Ikhlef joined Caranx Medical in April 2021 to work as a research and development engineer in computer vision and artificial intelligence, and his main mission is to use

his past knowledge and imagination for revolutionizing–within an ideal multidisciplinary environment–the industry of autonomous surgical robots.
